Selfpaid publishes financial guides for self-employed workers and 1099 contractors in the United States. This page explains how we research, write, and maintain that content.

Independence

Editorial decisions at Selfpaid are made independently of commercial relationships. Advertisers and affiliate partners have no input into what we cover, how we evaluate products, or what conclusions we reach. Our writers are not instructed to produce favorable coverage of any company.

Accuracy and research standards

Articles on Selfpaid are based on primary sources wherever possible — IRS publications, official government guidance, product documentation, and direct testing. We do not rely on press releases or company-provided claims without independent verification.

Tax-related content is reviewed for accuracy against current IRS guidelines. When tax law changes, affected articles are updated. The date of last update is displayed on every article.

Authors

Selfpaid is written by three contributors: Marcus (tax and IRS compliance), Elena (tools, software, and product comparisons), and David (budgeting, income management, and financial habits). Each author's background, expertise, and editorial note are available on their bio pages.

Article updates

Financial information changes. We review high-traffic articles at minimum annually and update them when tax law, product pricing, or regulatory guidance changes materially. The "Last updated" date on each article reflects substantive content changes, not minor edits.

Corrections

If you identify an error in our content, contact us at contact@selfpaid.co. We investigate all correction requests and update articles where warranted. Significant corrections are noted inline.
